The iPhone war, Singapore style.

Anyone saw the new Starhub advertisement recently? The one where they show a finger poking and sliding on a red tomato, and also on an orange pineapple. Kinda stupid advertisement right? Starhub seems to have failed in making a parody; not many people even understand what's the meaning of poking a tomato and a pineapple. Well, red represents a certain telco operator in Singapore, and orange represents another. Recently, all three telco operators in Singapore are bringing in the iPhone. So of course, to increase competition and boost sales, green Starhub (no pun intended) decided to make an almost meaningless, and pointless, commercial. Direct war? Not really, fruits don't really mean anything. Comic effect? Not really, because seeing a finger poking and sliding against a tomato is nothing comical. Sarcastic? Probably, well, at least now we know that Singtel is likened to a tomato, M1 to a pineapple, and Starhub, well, was some telco operator giving out free green apples along Orchard Road some days ago? Oooo now we know.

Anyway, that Starhub advertisement reminds me of this video I saw on youtube some time back. It's the Apple vs. Blackberry and vice versa advertisement.
